Time for Us

If everything remained the same in our lives, we wouldn’t need the concept of time. If every day were the same as the day before, knowing whether it is Wednesday or Thursday would be irrelevant. If children didn’t grow, we might not care what year it is.

Alas, we live in the world where everything and everyone is constantly changing. Impermanence is the signature of life. And we use time to notice this impermanence and to mark changes in our lives: we celebrate birthdays, commemorate important events, and anchor stories of our lives in time’s fabric.

Time is the vehicle for getting anything done in our lives: we need to allocate Time to anything that we want done.

Need to see the dentist? Schedule an appointment and mark it on your calendar.

Want a beautifully baked apple pie? Give it the right amount of time in the oven.

Want to learn something? Give yourself time to study and grow.

Want to deepen a relationship? Give each other time and watch the relationship evolve.

We each have different responsibilities and interests, and we allocate time to what we most need or want to change.

During this week of reflection, let’s make Time for us: to be together, to introspect, and engage with our senses. This ‘Time for us’ isn’t about improving productivity, increasing sales, or producing something; it is just about being present with each other and ourselves.

Please join me this Thursday, 10/10/24, 8:30 – 10 pm EST for a virtual gathering, Applied Intuition: Sensing Our Lives. I've set up a free Zoom meetup for us engage with our intuitive abilities together, think about our past, present, and tap into the future. There are still a few spots left, and I hope you can join.

WHAT: Applied Intuition: Sensing Our Lives (Meet-up on Zoom), 1 hour 30 minutes.
WHEN: Thu., Oct. 10th, 8:30-10pm EST via Zoom.
FREE. Registration is required, spaces are limited. https://alinabas.as.me/IntuitionZoom
DETAILS: We will discuss ways to understand & apply intuiting using our ability to 'sense and make sense', and shape our vision for the coming year. We'll talk about scientific basis for retrieving information that is not accessible through analysis, experiment with getting information via sensory perception, and make time for Q&A.

With gratitude,
Alina

New Projects

Our academic book chapter on the relationship between mastery, talent and intuiting, co-authored with Dr. Viktor Dorfler and Dr. Marta Sinclair, has been accepted for publication in 2025! The chapter is called "Does Intuiting Precede or Follow Mastery?" Stay tuned for details!

I am excited to work with a government agency on a fantastic project: creating a system in which managers and leaders feel empowered and unafraid to solve problems instead of passing the problems on to their leaders, finding the right balance between taking ownership of the solutions and keeping the leaders informed. In another project, I am working with community leaders hand-picked for a selective and intensive international fellowship. The focus was on formulating clear and impactful mission, vision, and goals, that will move their community to have greater positive impact on the world at large. Could leaders in your organization benefit from this type of work? Let's have a brief exploratory call and see.

This summer my colleague Dr. Viktor Dörfler and I have presented at the Academy of Management Conference on the topic of
whether AI can intuit. This topic made for a great debate.

Also, if you have a group of friends interested in science-based approach to intuition development, I'm happy to do a private 2-3 hour workshop for your group in person in NYC/NJ area or via zoom. Please, drop me a note to Alina@AlinaBas.com and let me know if you'd like to see this happen.
